Towards the end of the previous term, Treverton College pupils were offered the opportunity to apply for 20 limited scholarships to a space STEM programme (STEM is development that integrates the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics). The programme invites pupils from all around Africa to participate and will culminate in the selected team designing, building and launching satellites into space.

The first stage in the process was an online quiz and submission of motivation for selection by the prospective participants. Phoolan-Devi Rankin was short-listed to the top 50. She underwent a further online quiz and zoom interview and awaited the outcome.

The school in Mooi River said it was proud to announce her successful inclusion into the programme, which starts in February this year. “This is a fantastic achievement and we celebrate with you. #becourageous #beyourself #thetrevertonexperience”
