Snow expected for Lesotho and Drakensberg

The year’s first proper jolt of cold weather arrived in the Midlands with a vengeance on Tuesday, with snow predicted for parts of the Berg and Lesotho.

As low cloud and rain set in the temperature was due to dip below 10C in Nottingham Road and Underberg overnight.

In a report linked to its Facebook page, SnowReport SA said: “The snow forecast for the Lesotho Drakensberg for the tail-end of the Easter weekend is now expected to arrive on Tuesday and Wednesday.

High-peaks

“As much as 10cm of snow is expected on the high-peaks of eastern Lesotho, and the northern, central and southern Drakensberg peaks starting tomorrow (Tuesday) morning and continuing until the early hours of Wednesday morning.”

It added that the SA Weather Service was now also predicting snow for the region.
