Pop-up outdoor art event at Hilton Railway Station

A "pop-up" art exhibition is planned for February 29 at Hilton Rail Station.

An outdoor art exhibition is planned for the Hilton Railway Station on Saturday, February 29.

On Facebook, Paul Murray of the Faded Light Art Gallery told the Meander Chronicle, “We’re holding an outdoor event that is open to all artists, galleries, studios, crafters, in the hope that we can bring some focus back to the arts. It should be a very cool day with buskers and an amazing venue. All are welcome.”

Paul was hoping to make this platform a strong networking tool for KZN Midlands arts.

So far Ocky Kruger, Hermine Spies Coleman, Dawn Morey, Jennifer Milborrow, Yulia Glas, Lorna Panzenbock, Gerda Swanepoel and Paul were getting involved, he said, but there was plenty space available and they expected to recruit more over the next month.

The Hilton Steam Heritage Association, a volunteer-based organisation which has undertaken a major revamp of the station, said it was looking to invite more people and interest groups to host events at the venue and make it a clean, attractive, well-utilised space for the community to enjoy.

The Station Stop coffee shop was launched over the recent festive period.

Date: February 29, 2020, 10am-5pm
Venue: Hilton Railway Station
Cost: Entrance is free.
