Capital K Swim At Midmar Gets New Sponsor

The 2017 Capital K Swim at Midmar gets a new title sponsor with hosts, Penguins Swimming Club, teaming up with the Midlands company, Dairy Day, under their HoneyDew brand. The HoneyDew Capital K Swim will take place at the Midmar Dam Resort on Sunday 3 December 2017.

Stuart Mackenzie, CEO of Dairy Day believes that “An active lifestyle goes hand in hand with healthy eating” and with Dairy Day “centred around quality partnerships and quality service” we are extremely excited to team up with an event that shares our philosophy.

Seeing potential for growth of the event, Penguins Swimming Club has partnered with Unbranded Africa for the 25th anniversary of the HoneyDew Capital K.

“We are confident that a partnership with Unbranded Africa – organisers of the largest women’s sports event in KwaZulu-Natal, the Durban SPAR Women’s Challenge – together with Brad Glasspoole’s expertise on events such as the world-famous Comrades Marathon, FNB Dusi Canoe Marathon and aQuelle Midmar Mile, will give the HoneyDew Capital K a fresh look and feel as it retains its vital place in South Africa’s Open Water Swimming calendar” said Penguins Swimming Club Chair, Sonja Aadnesgaard.

“Our focus is going to be on both a participant and family orientated event,” said Brad Glasspoole, Race Director of the 2017 HoneyDew Capital K Swim, “as well as providing an ideal opportunity to showcase and partner with the community of the beautiful KwaZulu-Natal Midlands.” Glasspoole added that “This event has great potential and with the right recipe we at Unbranded Africa look forward to partnering with Penguins Swimming Club on showcasing and growing it for at least another 25 years”.

The 2017 HoneyDew Capital K Swim at Midmar will be a one-day event taking place on Sunday 3 December 2017. The event offers a choice of 3 distances over 6 events starting with a 3km swim. A 500 metre fun swim, focussing on introducing kids to open water swimming, takes place between the four 1 km events which will serve as official seeding events to the 2018 aQuelle Midmar Mile and the KZN Open Water Swimming Championships.

Participants have the option of entering online via ( with an early entry fee of R175 for the 1km & 3km distances and R155 for the 500m (Early entry before 19 November 2017) going up to R195 for 1km & 3km distances and R175 for the 500m (20 to 26 November 2017). Entries on the day at Midmar Dam Resort will be R250 for all distances. The event is capped at 1500 entries. For more information check out
