Pietermaritzburg is fourth on the list of South Africa’s most congested cities, according to the 2019 Inrix Global Traffic Scoreboard.
Cape Town is the most congested, while Durban is in sixth spot. Johannesburg came in second and Pretoria third, says Inrix.
Bogota in Columbia is the most congested city in the world, with Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro and Mexico City following.
Nine hundred cities in 43 countries were studied.
