Give a youngster a head start in the new school year

As the festive season approaches, Love Howick is once again calling on the community to assist with its Santa’s Schoolbox programme.

The programme aims to provide disadvantaged pupils with the opportunity to enter the new school year with the tools required for success – stationery.

Many pupils start each year without these crucial items, which is where Santa’s Schoolbox comes in.

There are a couple of ways to get involved with the project and give a youngster a head start.

First, purchase a “schoolbox” by donating R200 and Love Howick will fill it for you. The account details are as follows:

Account name: Love Howick NPC, account number 62774727039, branch Howick, branch code 220725, reference Santa’s Schoolbox.

Second, donate items on the following list and the organisation will make up a box on your behalf:

1 box HB pencils (12 per box)
1 eraser
1 30cm ruler
1 large glue stick (43g)
1 pair scissors
1 sharpener with container
2 blue pens
1 set retractable wax crayons (12 per set)
6 A4 72-page feint-margin soft-cover exercise books

Donations will be collected until December 20. They can be dropped of at Oasis Church, 70 Main Street, Howick.
