Spar KZN Schoolgirls’ Hockey Challenge
Now in its 10th year, the Spar KZN Schoolgirls’ Hockey Challenge’s first tournament takes place on Saturday, February 29. The host for this year’s northern KZN regional is Pioneer High School.
In March, the event heads to Durban for the Durban Central regional. Durban Girls’ College will host the March 7 event, followed by Ashton International College in Ballito on Sunday, March 8, where the Durban North regional takes place.
On March 14, the Pietermaritzburg Central and Pietermaritzburg North regionals take place at St Anne’s College on Saturday, March 14.
After a two-week break, Kingsway High School will host the Durban South regional at Three Schools Trust on Sunday, April 5.
Staying in the south, the tournament hits the road for Matatiele for the Southern KZN regional, when King Edward High School will host teams on Saturday, April 18.
On Saturday, May 9, schools from the timber-rich areas gather for the uMvoti, uThukela and uMzinyathi regional at Wembley College in Greytown.
Back-to-back action takes the tournament to Curro Hillcrest on Sunday May 10 for the Highway regional.
Concluding the regionals, the 10th tournament takes place at Grantleigh School, which will host teams for the Northern KZN Coastal regional on Saturday, May 16.
In mid-July, the top team from each region will represent their school and their region at the finals at St Mary’s DSG in Kloof. This takes place on Saturday and Sunday, July 18 and 19.
