Drakies and Kearsney perform together at Durban City Hall

Choirs to delight on September 7

A magical musical experience will be presented at the Durban City Hall on Saturday, September 7 when the Drakensberg Boys Choir and Kearsney College Choir perform together in a one-off show.

Witness arguably two of the best choirs South Africa has to offer performing a range of musical delights, ranging from classical and contemporary choral gems to billboard pop hits, to authentic indigenous South African music.

Both choirs have won titles at the World Choir Games in previous years, so the evening promises to be spectacular.

“Last year the Drakensberg Boys Choir competed at the 10th World Choir Games, held in Tshwane, South Africa. They won the Champions’ Title for ‘Scenic Pop’, with one of the highest scores in the entire competition,” said the school in a media release.

“What makes the evening more special is that there are several Drakensberg Boys Choir School old boys within the Kearsney College Choir, including their Director of Music, Marshell Lombard.”

The Kearsney College Choir has been one of SA’s leading school choirs for years, and has notched up some groundbreaking awards and performances. Recently they made waves with their tribute to SA music icon Johnny Clegg.
