Arts workshop at Curry’s Post

Artist Cheryl Curnick, of the International Watercolor Society South Africa (IWSSA), is holding a Collage and Mixed Media Combo workshop at Giverny Country Studios in Curry’s Post on May 18 and 19.

The event aims to develop in participants new ways of working to help grow their creativity, using everything and anything that has been lying around in their studios for years.

The cost of the workshop is R860 and participants are asked to provide a bring-and-share lunch. To book, and for information on what to bring, contact 082 652 5682 or email

A bit of background on Cheryl…
In 2013, she was invited to an International Watercolor Society (IWS) biennale in Turkey, where the IWS is headquartered. Since then Cheryl has travelled to Turkey on numerous occasions to participate in IWS workshops and biennales.

Then, in 2014, she launched an IWS branch in Johannesburg. These were followed by branches in Cape Town and the Eastern Cape. Last year, Cheryl was invited to demonstrate in Prague.

International festival

Meanwhile, the IWSSA is planning its first international festival this year. It will take place in Somerset West in September and will feature a number of international artists, who will conduct workshops.

The society’s aim is to promote the medium of watercolours as a true art form.
