Each year a group of super committed swimmers swim an incredible eight miles during the course of the Midmar Mile weekend event, completing all eight events to raise funds for charity.
Recently the aQuellé Midmar Mile charity cheque handover was held. This year’s Singakwenza 8 Mile swimmers managed to raise a whopping R414 611, beating last year’s total by more than R50 000.
Singakwenza, the early childhood education NPO, said it was immensely grateful to each of the swimmers and all their donors for this incredible gift. This amount was made up of R10 raffle tickets, R50 swimathon sponsorships, R100 pledges, etc.
“So many people contributed, and together it has added up to a very impressive amount that will help to improve early childhood education. Huge thanks to aQuellé, Wayne Ridden, Di Doveton, and all the people behind the scenes that enable Singakwenza to raise these funds through this prestigious event,” said Singakwenza fundraiser and project co-ordinator Linda Hill.
