Zuma calls for ‘Larger than Life’ Mandela Day!
President, Jacob Zuma, announced yesterday that, all South Africans should unite to make Madiba’s 95th birthday the biggest Mandela Day ever, by getting involved in 67 minute initiatives and activities. In the true spirit on Mandela Day, Matchworld, promoter of the upcoming Nelson Mandela Football Invitational, have heeded the President’s call and invites all soccer lovers and their families to do their bit for the community and to come out in their droves to support this special Mandela Day Celebration.
“We have taken President Zuma’s call to heart and plan to ensure that the Nelson Mandela Football Invitational Tour is managed and executed with the same ‘magic’ that is synonymous to Tata Madiba. South Africans can mark this day by joining us to recreate that 1994 energy in our two cities“ said Lyndon Barends, Executive Chairman, Matchworld.
In this larger than life event, fans can unite to honour the legacy of Madiba Magic on 14 July 2013 at Loftus Versfeld in the City of Tshwane to see Manchester City take on Supersport United. The English side will also play against AmaZulu Football Club on 18 July 2013 at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. Tickets for the two matches will be available through national ticket outlet, Computicket, priced between R150, R250 and R350. Fans can visit www.computicket.co.za for tickets, and seat allocations per stadium. Hospitality packages are also available on www.warwickhospitality.co.za .
“Last year, a full stadium sang happy birthday to Mr Mandela in lieu of the National Anthem – we would like to make this year extra special by honouring him in a big way!” Barend concluded.
