YOUNG RANGERS & WILDLIFE EXPERIENCES

YOUNG RANGERS & WILDLIFE EXPERIENCES

It may not be every young person’s dream to work in the wilds amongst wildlife, but to many the idea of working out in the open with nature has a tremendous appeal.  Chatting to African Insight interns and volunteers on Somkhanda Game Reserve, northern Zululand, many who had never been out of the cities, let alone been to Africa before, it was wonderful to share their enthusiasm and new dedication to an environment they have only recently discovered.
Frank and Tulani, both who hail from the KZN Midlands, said, with a huge smiles on their faces, “it has been a fun experience, we have learned a lot about wildlife, conservation and people.”
When asked what had been Frank’s highlight during the five months he has been here, his answer was “the whole experience, too many to name just one!” Frank, who his studying for his Guide’s Licence, plans to concentrate on the field monitoring of wild animals, whilst Tulani has developed a love of ecology.
