Wartburg Kirchdorf School Rugby News

The Wartburg Kirchdorf School 1st team hockey girls had an excellent season starting with an overall win during 1st term at the Voortrekker Festival. The girls followed this up in 2nd term by winning all games in their Pool B league as well as games against the following Pool A schools: Voortrekker High School, Grace College and St. Henry’s 1st teams in addition to St. Anne’s and GHS 2nd teams. The season ended on a two-stage high, the first stage being an overall win at the Regional Spar Tournament, achieved by winning games against Deutsche Schule Hermannsburg, Greytown High School, Domino Servite School and Estcourt High School.

The second stage was a progression to the finals of the Spar Tournament where the hockey team ultimately placed 6th out of 10 schools, all of whom had won regional trials in their own right to have progressed to these finals.

The 1st team rugby boys started off their season equally well with a pre-season 1st term win against Carter High School at the Wartburg Kirchdorf School Winter Sports Festival. Once 2nd term got under way, the boys progressed to win four of their seven scheduled games. The team ended their season with a win ratio of five wins from eight games as follows: wins against Carter High School 1st team (back-to-back wins), Alex High School 1st team, Grace College 1st team and Treverton College 2nd team as opposed to losses against Durban North College 1st team, Weston 1st team and St. Henry’s 1st team.
