Treverton grade 11s Celebrate their Toastmasters course
Approximately forty Treverton College Grade 11 learners have just completed the six-week Toastmasters course. The culmination of the course is the “black-tie” or formal dinner held at the school and organised by the Toastmaster participants.
Once again, the “graduands”, proved their skill at planning a formal event, from the elegant tables to the appetising menu. Perhaps the biggest surprise for the staff who attended was the Toastmasters themselves; the young, well-groomed men in smart suits and well knotted ties and sophisticated young women in mainly smart black gowns, with a sprinkling of white dresses among them.
The highlight of the evening is the announcement of the top nine students, three respectively in each category and awarding them with their certificates. The winners were: Prepared Speech-1st Catherine Meyer, 2nd Shannon Freeman and 3rd John Melvin, Impromptu Content- 1st Marele Muller, 2nd Kevin Cui and 3rd Megan Ramsden; Evaluation Content: 1st Christopher Bartlett, 2nd Kate Morris and 3rd Claire Mc Cubbin.
Toastmasters was introduced at Treverton College in 2012 by the Senior Deputy Headmaster of Student Affairs Rob Wyatt Minter.
