St Charles Finders Keepers
Young eyes are sharper and little boys have their eyes everywhere. Seth Hutton, a Grade 4 pupil at St Charles College Prep, spotted what he thought was an ordinary coin as walked down the steps and onto the playing field for tea break. After picking up the coin he discovered that it was a tikkie, minted in 1920.
St Charles College moved from the city centre onto its present site in 1925 and so it is likely that a boy, not dissimilar to Seth, dropped the coin many years ago and it has been buried for many years before being spotted by Seth.
