St Charles College takes first place at Regional Enviro Quiz

Congratulations to the St Charles College Enviro team, who took first place in the Regional Enviro Quiz recently. The SCC A team is one of two teams from regionals who go forward to participate in the National Quiz which is set to take place in August.

St Charles College 1st XV vs Northwood:

A crowd of people were well entertained on Old Orchards by the 1st XVs of St Charles College and Northwood. The visiting team opened up the scoring with a well worked counter attack and duly converted to lead 7-0. The Saints boys bounced back quickly opening up their account, scoring the first of their seven tries. Northwood opted to take a shot at goal, landing a long range penalty to get back in front, 7-10. Saints then kicked into top gear, scoring some superb tries but failed to fully capitalise on this momentum and Northwood hung in, scoring just before half time to stay within 7 points.

Northwood started the 2nd half better than the home team and scored a try to momentarily take the lead 24-25. The Saints boys ramped up their defensive efforts, causing numerous mistakes on the Northwood attack, which lead to opportunities to counter attack. The Saints took these opportunities and the game was ultimately decided by three unanswered tries, SCC winning 45-25.
Other results from the day:
– 2nd XV SCC 52 – 0 Northwood
– U16A SCC 17 – 15 Northwood
– U15A SCC 21 – 24 Northwood
– U14A SCC 29 – 0 Northwood

St Charles Mini Rugby

Cameron Mc Cleary

There was great excitement in the Junior Primary last week as the Grade 1 and 2 boys gathered for their Mini Rugby matches. They played their hearts out and should be commended for their efforts. Well done Saints!

St Charles College 1st XV vs Clifton College
On Saturday Clifton College travelled inland to play against St Charles College. The weather was cold and the surface slippery, but that did not stop both teams from playing enterprising rugby for the crowd on Old Orchards. Well done to the Saints 1st XV who walked away with a 30-21 win!

Matthew Burnett Receives Springbok Scouts Award

It is with great pride that we congratulate St Charles College student, Matthew Burnett, on receiving the Springbok Scout award!

This is the highest award one can achieve in scouting, and is no easy feat. Matthew has had to submit detailed log books both before and after planning, organising and leading five major projects. For each of these projects, he received a mark of over 95%. Most recently Matthew had to attend an interview with the Provincial Springbok Panel before the award could be considered and approved by the National Scouts Body.
We commend Matthew on his commitment and hard work over the years in order to achieve this National accolade!
