Cordwalles Prep Enviro Trip

The Cordwalles Preparatory School Grade 5 Environmental trip to Roselands was a wonderful experience for all the boys. The cold, wet weather did not stop the boys from taking part in all the activities. They were challenged and completed tasks and activities which took them out of their comfort zones. They learnt about teamwork and were encouraged to support each other always.
The boys learnt to control their fears and it was lovely to see them overcome personal obstacles. Not only were the activities very exciting, but the boys learnt so much about their environment too. The boys returned very tired, but enriched with new experiences and memories.

Formula 1 dreams inch closer for Cowan House Boys.

The Cowan House Jaguar Primary School Grade 6 team (Yolo Molo) made up of Ross Froise, Jack Walters, Rohil Singh and Oliver Cornish cracked their need for speed as winners of the Jaguar Primary Schools Challenge Regional Event.  In awe of the surrounding Jaguars in the dealership showroom, Ross, our Team Manager; Jack, our Design Engineer; Rohil, our Graphic Designer; and Oliver, our Manufacturing Engineer, pitted their compressed air cylinder powered racing machine against those developed by a number of other schools’ teams and as with Formula 1 racing, the winner was decided by results in splits of one hundredths of a second.

The aim of the Jaguar Primary Schools’ Challenge is to provide a stimulating project to introduce leaners to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) related topics through the engagement of design and manufacturing of a race car. Each team is commissioned to research, design, manufacture, test, promote and race the fastest car possible. We are certainly looking forward to defending our title at next year’s event.

New Hanover Prep – Expanding the walls of the Classroom
Children, like adults, need a range of visual and sensory experiences to inspire and stimulate their creative potential. Fortunately, at New Hanover Prep, the environment is flexible enough to create opportunities to help expose children to new experiences, excursions being one method.  Each term the different grades benefit from various excursions. The Grade Twos and Threes visited the Shark’s Board to watch a shark dissection and audio visual show. Thereafter they enjoyed their trip to Crocodile Creek.

New Hanover Prep Outreach
We should value all ages in our communities, from the very young to the very old. The elderly folk in nursing homes and assisted living facilities often feel isolated and excluded. The Outreach Club at New Hanover Prep chose to make a difference in the lives of the residents at our local Brunfelsia Care Centre this term. Developing stronger connections between these older adults and their community can have tremendous benefits for young and old.
