Laddsworth Musicians perform at Pietermaritzburg Eisteddfod

Laddsworth pupils took part in the SASMT Eisteddfod 2017, which was held at The Wykeham Collegiate in August.
Casey Mosdell achieved 2 silver certificates and 1 bronze for Strings: Violin, Grade 2
Kayleigh Henderson achieved a silver certificate for Woodwind: Flute, Pregrade 1
Emma Lycett achieved 2 silver certificates for Classical Piano, Grade 2, and 1 silver for Flute Grade 1
Isobel Armstrong achieved 2 gold certificates for Classical Piano, Grade 3.

Laddsworth pupils took part in the South African Society of Music Teachers Eisteddfod on Friday 4 August 2017, in Pietermaritzburg. Kendra Tongue received 3 silver certificates for Classical Piano, Grade 1. Colin Robertson received 2 silver certificates and 1 bronze for Strings – Classical Guitar, Grade 1. Robyn Crookes received a silver certificate for Classical Piano, Pregrade 1.

Laddsworth Primary learner takes part in Consulting Civil Engineers Sports Day
Ruth Bromley, a Grade 6 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, took part in the Consulting Civil Engineers Sports day recently in Pietermaritzburg. Ruth’s team was placed third overall in the obstacle course.

 

Laddsworth player selected for KZN Duiker Rugby Team

Chris Prinsloo, a Grade 7 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, who plays for the Pietermaritzburg Collegians Youth Rugby Club, has been selected to represent the KZN Duiker team. Chris will travel with his team to Pretoria to play in the Interprovincial Tournament in the October holidays.

Laddsworth Mathematical Stars

Two Laddsworth pupils were awarded trophies at the KZN Regional Abagility Maths Club Championship held recently in Kloof.  240 pupils participated across various levels.
Abagility teaches addition, subtraction, multiplication and division based on Japanese abacus mathematics techniques. Two papers were written, one using an abacus and a second paper using “anzan’ which is mental arithmetic.
Tessa Moreno, Grade 2, was awarded the Champion of Champions trophy, attaining the highest mark for her level.
Jodi Moreno, Grade 4, was awarded the Champion of Champions trophy for her module. This is the fourth consecutive year that Jodi has received this award. Jodi furthered her achievements by being placed 2nd overall in the Millions and Billions Dictation Challenge, and 3rd overall in the Advanced Anzan Dictation Challenge.  Both girls have also been chosen to represent KZN in the Nationals Championship to be held in Gauteng in October.
