Hermannsburg School Happenings

English Olympiad Achievers

English is the most important subject our scholars take – proficiency in English enables them to learn all the other subjects, as they make and understand meaning around sometimes difficult and complex concepts in the sciences, commercial and art & humanities fields. Congratulations go to this year’s English Olympiad participants: Ntokozo Zondi, Christel Brüggemann & Hugh Bouwer all achieved Gold; Luke Hayward, Sven Klar & Liezl Volker achieved Silver; Kirsten Ortmann, Dieter Volker, Nonjabulo Khoza & Elisabeth Tönsing achieved Bronze and Enoch Mnikati received a Merit certificate.

Deutscholympiade//German Olympiad Successes

Another important language in our school, which leads to an internationally recognised language proficiency diploma, is German, where we congratulate Ntokozo Zondi (84%), Charlize Vermeulen (79%) and Nonjabulo Khoza (76%) for their achievements in the 2017 Deutscholympiade (German Olympiad).

Stuttgart welcome. Hermannsburg’s Grade 10s were warmly welcomed at Stuttgart airport by their German partners, who will be hosting them for four weeks in Germany.

The junior members of Hermannsburg’s Nature Club – the ‘Bush Babies’ – stopped to watch a calf being fed while on their quest to spot owls in the area around the school.
