Appreciating Autumn and Bot Gardens.
Seen having fun in the Botanical Gardens are some of the Russell girls who are involved in the indigenous tree planting programme at the school, The girls visited the Botanical Gardens to study the various indigenous trees growing there and to see their nursery..The girls found the trip to be most informative and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings and wonderful autumn weather.
“I have a Dream” winner…
In February the United States Mission to South Africa held a poetry contest in honour of our Black History Month and the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King Junior’s ” I have a dream” speech. Russell High learner, Dianah Munhuweyi came first in the country in the 16 – 18 year category. Seen with Dianah at the prize giving ceremony held at the American Consulate in Durban, is English teacher, Lieza Larter who encouraged her to enter the competition. Dianah was also required to present her poem at the ceremony.
