The Mortimer Toyota Mixed Trips Bowls Tournament.

31bowlDespite predictions of a chilly day, there was much enthusiasm on the green of the Mooi River Country Club. There were sixteen teams from Estcourt, Bergville, Howick, Hilton, Creighton, Wartburg, Mooi River & Pietermaritzburg on Sunday, 17 July, 2016 for the Mortimer Toyota Mixed Trips Bowls Tournament.

The format was two games of twelve ends each before lunch followed by one game of fourteen ends after lunch. The overall winners on the day were a team from Howick Bowling Club consisting of Dennis & Di Lariviere & Tony Ward. In second place was a team made up of from bowlers from Bergville & Esctourt – Gavin Robinson, Chris Hill & Jessica Thompson. The team in third place came from Mooi River & was comprised of Phillip Uys, Sharon Willey & Glyn Evans.

The team with the greatest winning margin in each of the three games wins a session prize. The first session prize went to a team made up of members from Mooi River & Pietermartizburg – namely Gary Baleson, Phillip Lang & Doug Butler. The second session prize was won by a Mooi River team consisting of Glen Manning, Di Pringle & Rick Fell. An all ladies team from PMB West Club – Marinda Opperman, Zelda Siebert & Susan Marx – won the third session prize.

Development bowls are played on Wednesday afternoons & social tabs-in games are played on Saturday afternoons at the Mooi River Country Club. Anyone interested in participating should contact the secretary, Toni Hanrahan on 072 158 3364.
