Midlands braces for cold snap
Significant drop in temperature expected
While the weather today and on Thursday appears fine and hot there are indications of a chilly weekend up ahead, with (incredibly early in the year) rumours of snow on parts of the Berg.
The SA Weather service website indicates that the hot conditions will continue through Thursday but come Friday the temperature will dip dramatically, with a low of 8 and maximum temperature of 12C in Nottingham Road.
There is about a 40% chance of rain in the Mooi River and Notties area.
It’s a similar story in Howick, where the max temperature peaks at 33C on Wednesday, while on Friday it will reach just 15C. Greytown can also expect significantly colder weather.
SAWS Executive Mnikeli Ndabambi cautioned on Twitter that the country could expect much colder conditions over the eastern parts over the weekend. SAWS would continue to provide updates.
The Snow Report Facebook page states that a cold front is moving up the coast from the Western Cape on Thursday and Friday with a chance of snow on the Drakensberg on Friday night.
