THE KEEPER OF LOST THINGS by Ruth Hogan & A SECRET GARDEN by Katie Fforde.

This is a delightful début novel of lost objects, second chances in life, of love, friendship and ghosts. Andrew Peardew, author of short stories, has spent most of his life collecting lost things. When he dies he leaves his lovely home and a study full of lost things to his assistant, Laura, asking her to find their owners. Ruth Hogan has cleverly included anecdotes of why or how a ‘thing’ was lost. With patience Laura and her team of two, manage to return some of the objects to their owners, one of which belongs to the ghost.
There is a variety of characters – our favourite was definitely the girl called Sunshine, a “dancing drome”- and the dogs, Douglas, Baby Jane and Carrot, of course! . With at least three great love stories, this is a true ‘feel-good’ read. (Hodder UK/Jonathan Ball)

A SECRET GARDEN by Katie Fforde

Another easy and charming read is Katie Fforde’s latest A Secret Garden. Dinner parties and local farmers markets, set in the beautiful Cotswolds in England, surrounded by flowers, freshly baked bread, a lovely manor house with a secret garden this is great romantic escapism with a happy ever after ending. (Century/Penguin Random House) .
