The Grade 5 Science Evening in August at Laddsworth Primary School  saw teams and individuals sharing the results of their experiential  scientific investigations.
Pupils enjoyed hearing from special guest speaker, former Laddsworth  pupil, David Hyslop who won a Gold Certificate from the School of  Engineering for his exhibit in the Category: Construction, Design and  Technology at the FFS Expo for Young Scientists 2015. He designed a  Water Diversion System which makes grey water available for plant  irrigation. David is currently in Grade 9 at Howick High School and will  go to Johannesburg for the next round of this expo.

Andre Reinhardt from Educate and Fascinate presented a show about bees at Laddsworth Primary School. The pupils learned interesting facts about bees, some got to participate in the telling of the stories which brought these facts to life and they were all inspired to ‘save our bees’.

Dereck Jackson a  psychologist, author and  well-known expert on  parenting  matters, spoke at the most recent Positive Parenting Forum session hosted  by Laddsworth Primary School. His focus was on bullying and how to equip  children who are victims of bullying to be more assertive. The tips,  suggestions and understanding he shared was delivered with a measure of  humour and much gravity, as bullying is a serious problem.
Dereck’s advice was, “Don’t take over your kid’s problems, empower them to  deal with their problems.”
These well-supported evenings are organised by Laddsworth’s Remedial  Teacher, Janet Anderson.
