Some of the achievers from Midlands schools

It was a proud moment for St Nicholas Dux Ruth Zulu (pictured above) at the 2018 Prize-Giving and Speech Day which was held at St George’s Garrison Church recently. Presenting Ruth with her trophy was guest speaker Advocate Ayanda Msimang.

Crystal Viljoen, a Grade 5 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, competed in the 2018 South African Gymnastic Games, held at Wits University in Johannesburg recently.

Crystal competed at Level 9 Rhythmic Gymnastics, and was the youngest competitor in the rotation. She managed podium finishes in all three required routines (bronze for hoop, bronze for ball and silver for clubs), and was the overall South African bronze medallist.

Liam Buis, a Grade 1 pupil at Laddsworth, took part in the South African BMX Championship held on October 7 in Pietermaritzburg. Liam was placed 6th among the Under 7 boys.

He will be competing in the last round of KwaZulu-Natal races at Giba Gorge on October 26.

Another Laddsworth pupil, Grade 6’s Ryan McKean, has been selected for the Under 12A KwaZulu-Natal Cricket Inland Squad. Ryan will take part in the inter-provincial tournament in Gauteng later this year.

Inland cricket

Cordwalles Preparatory boys achieved selection for Inland Cricket:

Matthew Solms and Ivan Jjuuko made the Inland U12 side. James Campbell, Thomas Mitchell and Onke Kweyama made the Inland U13 B cricket side.

St Charles pupils from both the Prep and Senior School were selected as KwaZulu-Natal Inland Cricket Representatives.
