Herbs for Health – Di Aldworth
After last month’s fabulous weather, winter has arrived, snow on the southern Berg and frost in the Midlands. For those of us over 60 this is a time of aches and pains.
Barry C writes;
I am 62 year old, still working in the building industry. As I spend all my time outdoors, my arthritis ‘plays-up’ in the cold. I am some way from needing a hip replacement, and am trying not to take medication all the time, so wonder if there is something I can do to ease the discomfort?
My Gran used to say “getting old is not for sissies”, but on the other hand there is no need to have to endure pain, and by today’s standards, 62 is young!
You are obviously active, and that is always a good thing, and many over-the-counter tablets that you can take, but if you want to use herbs in their natural state the following remedies should bring you some relief.
Find an organic APPLE CIDER VINEGAR and take 1 tablespoon with a little honey in 1/2 cup warm water daily to reduce acidity.
A CAYENNE POWDER poultice to affected joint will help , apply at night.
COMFREY / DEVIL’S CLAW / WILLOW BARK/ CAYENNE GEL – apply to affected area
TURMERIC CAPSULES – as directed
DEVIL’S CLAW &WILLOW BARK TINCTURE – 1 /2 tsp x 2 daily
I do hope this gives some relief, and that you manage to have a pain-free winter,
