Happy 21st birthday Kenwyn Retirement Home
Remember the old Camden Hotel? …… an iconic landmark in Maritzburg with its famous pub!
It is now the Kenwyn Retirement Home at 99 Pietermaritz St. Kenwyn was named after Ken and Winsome Collins who gifted it to PADCA in 1983.
It was described then as: “Eminently suitable as a residence for seniors, who, while not relishing an “institutional type” atmosphere, are still in need of secure and congenial circumstances.”
It is a tribute to the staff and residents that this ethos of a “Home from Home” continues and grows as the residents of Kenwyn proudly celebrated their 21st birthday on 21st October with a Champagne Breakfast, a Tea with Cake and a side splitting show all topped off with a late afternoon Braai in the courtyard. And yes, the pub is as solid and beautiful as it always was and it was open!
Kenwyn is open to the 50 plus age. It is part of PADCA and as such residents have peace of mind knowing that they have priority access to all of PADCA’s services, and able to remain within the PADCA family whatever their care needs are.
We invite you to visit, to wander around, to enjoy a cup of tea and a chat to the residents. Contact our manager, Petro, on 033 392 4300 (website www.padca.co.za)
