Former Durban Street Child Selected To Support Jordy Smith In Australia

Former street child, Sihle Mbutho, has been selected by O’Neill international as an ambassador for their ‘Perfect Day’ campaign.

Sihle (who was rehabilitated through surfing), will be flown to Australia to watch his hero, Jordy Smith, surfing in the major Drug Aware Margaret River Pro contest. He will hang out with the likes of Mick Fanning, Kelly Slater etc. He leaves Durban on Sunday 23 March and will be met at the airport in Aus by Jordy.

Jordy’s dad, Graham Smith, has shaped Sihle a board – and this guy surfs really well!

His story about how he grew up in Inanda, living with his granny, stealing, drinking, drugs etc / running away to Durban with the aim of stealing and even murder, until he met Tom Hewitt, founder of ‘Surfers Not Street Children’, is a heartwarming one.
