Editor’s Letter – November 16

Dear Readers,

You should have a copy by now…..

november-front-pageDon’t you love this …according to a certain William Ward, ”The Pessimist complains about the wind; the Optimist expects it to change; the Realist adjusts the Sails” .
It’s with this in mind that The Meander Chronicle heads off into the Festive Season editions … and in fact, every edition!  A note to Mr Ward though – he hasn’t met the Midlands tribe then … the people we call the Optimistic Realists! The place is swarming with them and lucky us- we get to meet them.

This month is no different …meet Ntombenhle, our optimistic realist who experienced Slow Food at its best in Italy with Nikki Brighton last month, and shares the joys with her community in Mpophomeni (front page).

Meet the wonderful Midlands artists who launched the Il Postino Art Lounge two nights ago (page 7,) with a display of creativity that will take your breath away.

If you didn’t know that Dr Imtiaz Sooliman of the GIft of the Givers is a Pietermaritzburg man…get out from under that rock and read about the International Recognition he enjoys (page 2).

AND … if you haven’t tasted the samosa’s available from Thokans Store you have not lived…order from their vast takeaway catering service! thokans
Yup … these optimistic realists all choose the Midlands!

Warmest
Phillippa and Caroline
