Diamond Decade award for Epworth
Epworth’s ten-year commitment to improving environmental management and learning in the school has resulted in a Diamond Decade award from the WESSA/WWF Eco-School’s Programme.
The largest school-based environmental management, certification and sustainable development education programme in the world, Eco-schools is implemented in 52 countries worldwide with over 1100 schools in South Africa participating.
Epworth was one of four schools selected to be part of the KZN pilot project when it was first initiated. It has received its Green Flag, an internationally acknowledged symbol for environmental excellence.
Much of Epworth’s environmental activity is channelled through its Earth Active Club which tackles projects such as recycling, tree-planting and community work.
