C’mon decorate our Onesies (for a good cause)
Liesel Kaumpek, SA Design shop owner/Rhino Warrior and Ryan O’Connor, Fund Manager for Rhino Conservation KZN Wildlife, have put their heads (and legs together) and will be taking on a challenge of Rhino proportions, to raise funds for the plight of the Rhino.
In Rhino Suits they will be trekking to Everest Base Camp (5150 metres above sea level) to raise awareness, and funds for stoprhinopoaching.com, an online initiative passionately working for the Rhino cause.
This local duo enjoys hiking and, as Liesel explained, the idea came about “in a conversation with Ryan, who invited me to do something with my hobby, and give it soul! Rhino Conservation is close to my heart. My Grandfather, Dering Stainbank, was Chairman of the Natal Parks Board and instilled a love for conservation, the Game Parks and nature in all of his grandchildren. We witnessed rhino rescues as kids – privileged indeed.”
They will depart on their epic trip on the 22nd of September. The trek starts in Lukla, Nepal and takes 13 days of trekking which includes two days for acclimatisation. This initiative was started by the TUKS students last year, who raised R150 000.00. Liesel and Ryan will be part of a group of TUKS students and other conservationists and hope to be able to match or beat last year’s fundraising effort.
This is a fine way to include your voice in the Rhino Conservation movement. Have your company logo on their Rhino Suits at a cost of R5 000.00. This does entitles you to a tax rebate as www.stoprhinopoaching.com is an NPO.
