Borderpost to Borderpost – An Epic Transfrontier Horseride

There’s grand adventure in the air, and a dream formulated round a Lesotho fireside by Craig Eberink and Bobby Stevenson is about to become a reality.

The Rat Pack, made up of Craig Eberink (Underberg Dairy farmer, and 2011 Mongol Derby winner), Rod Abbett (Underberg), Bobby Stevenson (ex SAP Specialised Units), and Wolfgang Herbst (ex ship’s Captain), are two weeks from departure on their epic transfrontier horseride, Borderpost to Borderpost. On the 1st of May 2014 the Rat Pack departs from the Bushman’s Nek border post, on horseback and will arrive ten days, and 400k’s later at Peka Bridge border post on the Free State border. They will ride an average of 40k”s a day, and will be using local guides to accompany them from village to village, through the magnificently picturesque Maluti Mountains. Local Dargle farmer Graham Griffin, and Underberg farmer James Mackintosh will join the Rat Pack on this epic ride

Word is being spread about the the Borderpost to Borderpost ride, as there are two nominated beneficiaries for funds collected via the ride. So …Donations will be gratefully accepted. R1.00 per km/R400.00 for the completed ride. The beneficiaries are CANSA (Cancer foundation of South Africa) and the Highveld Horse Care Unit, an organisation involved in the rehabilitation and homing of abused horses.

Four lucky winners will get to ride to Lesotho on horseback with the Rat Pack for a weekend, all expenses paid, Friday to Sunday. The date of the prize will be arranged with the winners.
