This year marks the 181st time the South African Dairy Championship Awards have been held in Cape Town, and they represent the highest quality awards that any manufacturer can achieve in Dairy.

The competition is geared toward the cheese manufacturers, and of the 95 classes divided between cheese, yoghurt, dairy desserts and drinks that are judged, 17 are yoghurts.

Achieving a first place in a class means that the product was judged to be the best product in that category. A Qualité Award represents the mark of quality of exceptional nature. This year there were only 12 Qualité awards given out, none for yoghurt.

This year, 879 products were entered from 80 different manufactures.

Fairfield Dairy is proud to say they have had a very successful year at the Dairy Championships, with a total of Seventeen awards. Eleven of these achievements were for the SPAR branded products. Five champions, three second places, and eight third places. Something to be particularly proud of is the Qualité award. This was awarded to the Food Lovers Market Butter Toffee Flavoured Milk, and proves it is definitely a product to be tasted!
