7 “Swimchix” Raise a total of R153 634.00 for Pinkdrive by Swimming 8 Miles

What a wonderful festive spirit in the 8 mile tent this year with all the swimmers for the various charities “hanging out” under one roof. BIDVEST and PINKDRIVE ensured that everyone was well looked after, with an ongoing supply of fantastic food and drinks, as well as massages for our hardworking bodies.

To swim the 8 Miles one needs to represent one of the chosen Midmar Mile charities and raise R10 000. The Swimchix are a group of friends who train together twice a week, and decided to join forces and fundraise as a group to raise the expected R70 000.
We were amazed by the response from various communities, companies, businesses, friends, families and schools, as with their assistance we managed to exceed this amount and raise over R153 000 for the Pink drive and help them in their fight for the early detection of cancer.

Various events were held whereby the proceeds were donated to the PINKDRIVE. We would like to thank the following schools – Howick High School & St Charles for holding a swimathon, St Anne’s and St John’s for holding a civvies day and Merchiston for holding a cake sale.

We would also like to say A HUGE BIG thank you to everyone who made pledges, donated cash, sponsored various prizes, swam in our swimathon, bought raffle tickets & generally gave us fantastic support and encouragement – THANK YOU

Next year we hope to be back again!!
